Our Rose & Thistle Shoe is affectionately known as Together Forever. For centuries newlyweds were given a lucky horseshoe as a symbol of fertility and to attract good fortune. The entwined Thistle and Rose just add to the romance of this piece making it the perfect wedding gift.

The rose and thistle are made from reclaimed copper and metal. Each petal and leaf is individually drawn, cut and forged into shape. These stems are made from solid metal, with their strong foundation symbolising the growth and love of the couple to hold up their beautiful union. These are popular as wedding gifts for couples, especially if one is from Scotland and the other from England. They also make excellent anniversary and Valentine Gifts.

Roses have always been regarded as a special flower and have a lot of deep meaning behind them. A red rose has a lot of symbolism and meaning. They represent eternal and true love and passion. It also symbolises courage, respect, good luck and congratulations. In Celtic countries the Thistle symbolises devotion, bravery, determination and strength. Many pagan cultures believe the thistle has magical properties. A vase of fresh thistles are said to renew the vitality of anyone who enters the home. It’s said to repel thieves, ward off evil and protect the home and garden. It’s also the national flower of Scotland and England.

Adding in the Horseshoe brings its own symbolism, this is said to bring good luck and good fortune as well as protect the home for back luck. We then have them mounted on a beautiful powerful Clydesdale shoe. Clydesdales are the gentle giants of the horse world and their massive shoes seem imbued with their gentle yet strong spirit.

  • The size will vary slightly but they are approx 28 cm high and 28 cm wide
  • Roughly 28cm H  x 28cm W (however this varies depending on your own shoes if you choose to use them)
  • Base can be changed to accommodate a personalised plaque
  • You can decide which side you want the rose or thistle 
  • Each one is handmade and as such they will vary slightly in colour and composition, making for a unique gift.
  • Personalised plaques can be ordered separately.
